Somatic coaching integrates traditional, cognitive-based coaching withvsomatic awareness, including sensations and emotions.
Modern neuroscience recognizes that our muscles, connective tissue, andvnervous system store memories, beliefs, and thoughts, often unconsciously.
The body is in fact a "distributed brain" innervated by the same cells that make up the brain. This means that the way we “inhabit” our body has a significant impact on multiple aspects: how we relate to others; how we react to external events; how we respond to pressure; how we regain a state of internal well-being and, ultimately, on how we are perceived.
One of the foundations of somatic coaching is body awareness, which arises from deep listening to emotions and sensations through guided introspection and dynamic processes. This approach aims to provide a deeper understanding of oneself and one's behavioral patterns. By focusing on the body, its emotions, and its strategies for interacting with the external world, somatic coaching fosters a renewed sense of flourishing in the individual, both personally and professionally. Depending on individual needs, this approach supports the development of communication skills, engagement, presence, self-confidence, and authenticity
Body language focuses on postures and what they communicate, remaining at a more external level. Somatic coaching, on the other hand, addresses a deeper level, leading to the awareness of the mnemonic impact that thoughts, emotions, and sensations have on the body and how the body itself is the primary sensory and relational organ in our interactions with the world.
The somatic coaching process can take place either remotely or in person, depending on the needs that arise. In the initial conversation, the coach discusses the client's goals and expectations for the coaching journey. The aim is to open new awareness through both verbal communication and body awareness training, to restore balance and center, which are essential for effectively achieving the desired goals
" All virtues are physiological conditions;
Our most sacred convictions are judgments of our muscles...Perhaps the entire evolution of the spirit is the question of the body "
Friedrich Nietzsche
